My European Adventure

Project Details

As part of a forty-day, eighteen-country trip I took through Europe in the summer of 2006, I built this website to share my experience with my family, friends, tour mates and the world. And it holds my journal entries, videos, and photos from the trip.

From a design and coding standpoint this project was massive. As part of it I built a custom back-end, and handled creating my first multi-section, content-heavy website. The website features a variety of sections that hold my journal entries, photos and videos, an introduction to who I am and why I took the trip, post-tour questions and answers, thoughts on travel, my travel playlist, and a lot more. (The site even has a “Say Hello” section where people can say hi, ask questions, and share their own experiences with other visitors).

The project, from start to finish, took me and my brother about two months to complete. Most of that time was spent designing and coding the custom back-end - and of course hooking it up with the website. The back-end handles the display out of content throughout the site, the “Journal Entries” section, and the “Say Hello” section (including comment moderation).
